چکیده

Background Juvenile Dermatomyositis (JDM) is a systemic autoimmune inflammatory muscle disorder and vasculopathy that affects children younger than 16 years old. JDM was not associated with development of malignancies, unlike adult dermatomyositis. Nasopharynx carcinomas (NPC) are rare tumors, corresponding to 2% of tumors of the head and neck and 0,25% of all tumors. They are closely related to the Epstein Barr virus, and also genetic, environmental and viral factors. They occur predominantly among Asians (in certain regions inhabited by Chinese), males and in the range of 40 to 50 years of age. We report a 13-year-old female patient with juvenile DM associated with NPC. The relationship between Epstein-Barr virus infection and both DM and NPC suggests a possible viral cause. Our patient had an undifferentiated carcinoma associated with Epstein-Barr virus.

Bullous dermatomyositis associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma--a case report.

Cutaneous manifestations of dermatomyositis commonly include Gottron's papules, heliotrope rash, photosensitivity, poikiloderma and nailfold telangiectasia. Vesicles and bulla are rare. We report a patient with dermatomyositis who presented with blisters and oral ulcers. It is important to recognise this bullous variant in order to avoid a delay in diagnosis. Bullous dermatomyositis may also po...

Unusual presentation of pulmonary lymphoepithelioma‐like carcinoma

Primary pulmonary lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC) is a rare malignant tumour with histological features similar to undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma. A close association is known to exist between pulmonary LELC and Epstein-Barr virus infection in Southeast Asian countries. We report a 69-year-old man with pulmonary LELC arising from a thin-walled cavity with a smooth inner surfa...

A pulmonary lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (PLELC) is similar to a lymphoepithelioma, a subtype of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and commonly associated with Epstein-Barr virus infection which is a rare tumour and classified in the group of "other and unclassified carcinoma" in the latest 2015 World Health Organization (WHO) classification. Some reports of lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC) h...

La dermatomyosite paranéoplasique révélant un carcinome indifférencié du nasopharynx: à propos d'un cas

Dermatomyositis (DM) is an inflammatory disease of unknown origin that manifests as a myopathy associated with typical skin lesions. Association between DM and cancer is frequent (from 18% to 32% according to case series). It was described for the first time by Stertz in 1916 in association with gastric cancer. All histological types and sites of cancer in the general population may be associat...
